The Beating Heart

Created by Ron Simmer for the Arts Alive exhibition in Oak Bay, BC, this impressive sculpture weighs approximately 250 pounds and stands ten feet tall with a seven-foot diameter. Constructed from half-inch thick reinforced fiberglass polyester resin, it features a computer-controlled LED light array that mimics the pulsing rhythm of a human heartbeat.

 

Attack Beetle (2016)

A recycled Volkswagen Beetle body is transformed into a whimsical giant spider, complete with steel legs, claws, and a support frame crafted from aluminum sheet, steel piping, resin, and polymer foam. This playful installation, perched atop the MakerLabs building at 780 East Cordova, is licensed to Low Tide Properties.

 

The Cycle Savers
Project Launch

Artist Ron Simmer, in collaboration with the Vancouver Community Lab, launched a program with the City of Vancouver to create a series of sculptural bicycle racks for city streets. The project kicked off with an open invitation to the cycling community to join a feedback session at Maker Labs.

 

Fractal Blaster

Ron Simmer unveils his prototype, the Fractal Blaster, an infinite-mirror video installation, at the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire.
